About the Authors:
Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski were a highly successful British duo in the world of children's literature. Helen Nicoll was the writer of the Meg and Mog series, while Jan Pienkowski was the illustrator. Together, they created some of the most beloved children's books of all time.
Helen Nicoll was born in Bristol, England, in 1937. She was an avid reader from an early age and eventually became a librarian. She later married a fellow librarian, Robert Kime, and the two collaborated on several books for children before Nicoll's collaboration with Pienkowski. Sadly, Nicoll passed away in 2012.
Jan Pienkowski, meanwhile, was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1936. He moved to England with his family in 1946 and eventually studied at the Camberwell School of Art in London. He worked as a designer and art director for several publishers before teaming up with Nicoll. Sadly, Pienkowski passed away in 2022.
Together, Nicoll and Pienkowski created over 20 books in the Meg and Mog series, which has sold millions of copies around the world. The books were notable for their bright, bold illustrations and simple but engaging stories, making them a favourite of children and adults alike.
